Volunteers from PIMCO, Cox Communications, Cal State University Fullerton, UCI, Windes & McClaughry and other organizations and churches will give a day of service in honor of Dr. King
SANTA ANA, Calif., Jan. 11, 2013 – Volunteers in Orange County are answering the call to help assemble food boxes for the hungry and harvest crops for those in need of food, restore natural habitats, repair and clean books, sort and pack medical supplies, and participate in cleaning, painting and refurbishment projects at nonprofits around the county.
Now for the 14th year, OneOC is matching up community-minded volunteers and worthy projects as a part of the organization’s annual day of reflective community service to acknowledge the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
OneOC President and CEO Daniel J. McQuaid noted, “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, ‘Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'what are you doing for others?’ We hope that volunteers will join their friends, neighbors and co-workers in giving something back to the community in honor of the example set by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This is a time for people from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to many of our pressing local and national problems.”
“Cox and its employees are proud to follow Dr. King’s example of unity and community service by taking part in One OC’s Days of Service on his birthday,” said Cox Communications’ Art Yoon, Director of Public Affairs.
Sponsors of OneOC’s Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service include Bank of America, Cox Communications, Michele and Peter Duncan, Experian, PIMCO Foundation, and Target.
