OneOC Announces Volunteer Opportunities for 2014 Earth Day of Service

Hundreds of volunteers to accept call to action in spirit of Earth Day

SANTA ANA, Calif., April 2014 – As concerns over climate change and pollution underscore the importance of Earth Day 2014, OneOC, formerly Volunteer Center Orange County, is recruiting companies, individuals, groups and families who want to honor our corner of the world by taking on volunteer projects designed to make our home a better place and to serve our neighbors.

“We urge community members to express their concern and appreciation for Orange County’s environment by taking part in an Earth Day-related project during the period of April 19 - 27,” said Daniel J. McQuaid, OneOC President and CEO. “OneOC is partnering with dozens of nonprofits and schools to provide opportunities for volunteers to clean beaches, plant and tend gardens, harvest produce, teach children how to be environmentally conscious, and to perform others tasks for a cleaner, greener Orange County.”

OneOC’s Days of Service corporate and foundation sponsors include: Cox Communications, Bank of America, Western Digital, PIMCO Foundation, Experian, Edwards Lifesciences, Leo Brennan Family Foundation, the Charles and the Mildred Schnurmacher Foundation, Inc., Wells Fargo, Disneyland Resort, Union Bank, Deutsche Bank, Irvine Company, RC Baker Foundation, Target, MK Products and the Charitable Foundation Berkshire Hathaway.

“Cox is honored to again be the Presenting Media Partner of Days of Service,” said Cox Communications Manager of Community Relations, Jessica Barbier.  “Giving back to the communities we serve is an important value for us, so we are proud to partner with OneOC to provide the opportunity for other families and businesses to do the same.”
