OneOC CEO Dan McQuaid Awarded Three Month Sabbatical from The Fieldstone Foundation and Clare Rose Sabbatical Program


Santa Ana, California, April 11, 2017– With the support of OneOC’s Board of Directors, OneOC has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Fieldstone Foundation for a Clare Rose Sabbatical Award, a capacity building grant that aims to replenish the stores of energy and inspiration of long serving nonprofit executives, while providing capacity building opportunities for the participating organization’s leadership team.

Dan McQuaid, President and CEO of OneOC, is one of five nonprofit executives from Orange and San Diego counties who have been awarded a three month paid sabbatical, with individual stipends and expenses to travel, reflect, or otherwise renew themselves in whatever non-work related manner they propose. McQuaid will spend his first 3-weeks abroad traveling with family in Scotland and Ireland.

“I am grateful for this opportunity and am dedicated to making sure my sabbatical will be beneficial not only for myself, but for our organization as a whole,” says McQuaid.

 “The Fieldstone Foundation has been building, deepening, and sustaining nonprofit leaders for over twenty-five years through various programs in our Leadership Network,” says Janine Mason, Executive Director of The Fieldstone Foundation. “The Clare Rose Sabbatical Program allows the leader of an organization to take time away while allowing others on the leadership team to lead the agency in his/her absence. The results include a renewed leader committed to staying in the sector longer and an increased capacity throughout the organization’s leadership team and board of directors.”

McQuaid will begin his sabbatical on April 25, 2017 after the organization’s 41st Annual Spirit of Volunteerism Awards, Orange County’s longest running, non-competitive opportunity to recognize volunteers for their service to Orange County, which will be held at the Disneyland Hotel on April 24th.
