OneOC Leadership Transitions: McQuaid to Retire and Strauch Selected Successor

Santa Ana, CA. -  OneOC Board Chair Peter Duncan announced today that OneOC President and CEO Daniel McQuaid has decided to retire at the end of this year and OneOC Vice President and COO Tim Strauch will succeed him.

For the past 12 years, McQuaid has led OneOC in building and growing its professional services that inspire, equip and connect local nonprofits and companies to create greater social impact. Following retirement as President and CEO, Dan plans to continue supporting OneOC’s community outreach and consulting with nonprofits and companies.

Duncan observed that Dan’s vision for the organization was to transform it into a one-stop-shop offering comprehensive volunteering, training, consulting and outsourcing services that accelerate nonprofit success. He noted that McQuaid has recently championed OneOC mobilizing more companies to engage their employees in volunteering, maximize their charitable giving, and leverage their public voice for doing greater in our community. “Dan will be leaving the organization in great shape,” commented the board chair. “Because of his leadership,” Duncan added, “OneOC has strong staff leaders, board governance, innovative programs and community partnerships.”

McQuaid said that he has been fortunate to have Tim Strauch be his leadership partner at OneOC and is very pleased the board selected him to be his successor.  Duncan said that Strauch had recently taken a major leadership role, working alongside McQuaid and the board, to develop OneOC’s 2020 Roadmap, a shared vision and strategic direction for the future of the organization.  Duncan noted that Strauch was the board’s unanimous choice to lead the plan’s implementation and OneOC going forward.

Tim Strauch has served as OneOC’s Vice President & Chief Operations Officer over the last 9 years. He previously held leadership roles with the YMCA, including Executive Director, Chief Development Officer and Executive Vice President. During his 30-year nonprofit career, Strauch has demonstrated a strong commitment and capacity to strengthen nonprofits and community partnerships and empower teams and individuals to maximize their potential for greater community good.

“I am deeply humbled and honored by the Board’s decision,” said Strauch. “I am excited to lead the next chapter of our organization alongside OneOC’s amazing volunteers and staff in serving the needs of local nonprofits and companies to create a stronger, healthier, and more vibrant Orange County.”

OneOC is celebrating its 60^th Anniversary this year having originally been founded as the first community project of the Junior League of Orange County in 1958. Since then, OneOC has evolved into a management service organization offering essential professional capacity building services for both nonprofits and companies.  Strauch observed that OneOC’s 2020 Roadmap lays out a clear path for OneOC to achieve greater community impact focusing on helping nonprofits with their strategies and service delivery to address the growing unmet needs in Orange County.  He said the plan also emphasizes the significance of working with the local business sector to advance their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs that create greater partnerships with local nonprofits.
